Hi everybody. I wanted to let you know about what's essentially a free, bonus recipe for the book. It covers hashing and salting passwords with Spring Security 2, both on the authentication side and on the user registration side.

http://wheelersoftware.com/articles/spring-security-hash-salt-passwords.html

This should give you an idea as to the kind of thing we have in the book, the writing style and so forth.

Enjoy!

Someone else may have brought this up on another thread, but if you've reached your page limit, the password hashing recipe is more important than the recaptcha and should replace it in the book.

Yeah, someone else did mention that as you say. I'd like to keep the CAPTCHA recipe but agree that we need to work the password hashing recipe in as well. I suspect we should be able to do both...

heya, thx willie for the free tutorial on this and webflow :) I have been trying to get the one with salting working together with the free source code that is available but I can.t get it working. I am not sure if I am missing something or so but would it be possible for you to send me a copy of the source code you use for the hasing tutorial so I can retry it.
