I'm trying to understand why the number 900 is used instead of any other for the step-cost-est in the estimate-cost function and the rest of the astar code.

Would appreciate any explanation as to how it was arrived at or how it is appropriate as a guess.

I'd also like to have a better explanation of the rationale behind this example. Doesn't make much sense to me - I assume because the problem is based on some classical model I don't have experience in. references appreciated...
