There are a fair number of uses of the hedge qualifier "rather." You could probably search for all of them in the book and throw them out. E.g., "Keywords have a rather convenient property ..." That doesn't say anything more than "Keywords have a convenient property..."

White (of Strunk & White) writes: "Avoid the use of qualifiers. Rather, very, little, pretty—these are the leeches that infest the pond of prose, sucking the blood of words."
